Steps to School

A preparatory program that gently transitions older children toward school readiness, routines, and emotional independence.

Steps to School bridges early childhood and formal education by helping children become confident, capable, and emotionally ready for the next stage. With a blend of structure, skill-building, and nurturing routines, this program ensures every child walks into Year 1 with enthusiasm — not fear.

About our service

  • Introduces light academic foundations in literacy, numeracy, and inquiry.
  • Encourages independence with simple routines like unpacking, organizing, and self-help.
  • Supports emotional readiness through stories, circle time, and classroom role-play.
  • Builds resilience, attention span, and ability to follow group instruction.
  • Teaches children how to ask for help, share space, and participate respectfully.
  • Includes early exposure to formal classroom tools (whiteboards, folders, tables).
  • Aligned with EYLF Learning Outcome 3: “Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.”

At Steps to School, we prepare children not just for school — but for learning with confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of self.
